First Quarter of 2016 Ending Soon

3/14/2016

Hello everyone,
Unbelievable that we're nearly through the first quarter of 2016.  Where does time go?  Haven't yet had any time for commentary on 2015.
One more year behind us here at A Quieter O'ahu.  We have been online now for 4 years and will celebrate 5 years in 2016.  Looking back over the past 5 I can say confidently that we have made progress - small steps, but forward leaning and none backwards.  For example, ending our first year of A Quieter O'ahu we were seeing about 10 unique hits on the website per week, under 50 page views, and about 1 or 2 form entries/contacts every six months.  Checking the statistics today we have averaged over 300 unique website visitors per week, almost 900 page views per week, and we see about 1 or 2 form entries/contacts per week.  Too, there seems to be more and more interest about 1) why it seems that it just keeps getting noisier on O'ahu, 2) why there doesn't seem to be any enforcement by HPD of the numerous ordinances and statutes passed to protect our community from the noise, and 3) what the individual can do to help raise this issue to the point of visibility and concern that someone in the administration, City Council, or Legislature finally finds the fortitude to truly represent their constituents and DO SOMETHING.

So, with 2016 upon us I remain optimistic that things can continue to change, and that together we can be the catalyst for that ongoing change.  Thanks to the many who have contacted us with notes of encouragement.  And to those seeking answers we hope that we were able to at least make you more informed of your options, and perhaps now and again offered a suggestion leading to a solution.

Continue to speak out in all the ways and through all the venues we identify on our site.  Eventually the collective voice will be heard.

Thanks to all our site visitors,
A Quieter O'ahu

How do we get HPD to enforce the noise ordinance? Should individuals walk directly into the station to discuss the problem? The Harley Davidson drivers, loud moped, and boom cars need to be stopped from blowing out all of are ear drums when they drive by--it's a health hazard.

Let us know what you think.  Are you tired of the noise?  Do you have ideas on how to combat the noise?  Tell us about it.

Also, use the "Contact A Quieter O'ahu" form (under "About Us" on the menu bar) to let us hear from you.  We continue to compile email addresses of those interested in reclaiming quiet for our island to inform of noise and related issues of interest.  From time to time Quieter O'ahu may recommend contacting City Council or the Legislator to make your feelings known on a particular noise or related Bill.

TOGETHER we can affect positive change.
