About A Quieter O'ahu
A Quieter O'ahu is a Hawai'i 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization located in the City and County of Honolulu, Hawai'i. Our purpose is to provide information to the residents of O'ahu, and across the State of Hawai'i about, but not limited to:
a) Noise;
b) Types of noise;
c) The mechanics of noise;
d) Health risks of noise;
e) Worst noises on O’ahu and across the State of Hawai’I;
f) City and County of Honolulu, State of Hawai’I, and Federal laws to protect residents against noise;
g) Residents' recourse when laws aren't working;
h) A first-look at new noise legislation put forward in the City and County of Honolulu, the State of Hawai'i House and Senate, and the Federal Government; and
i) To act as a focal-point for identifying resident noise and noise-related issues to City Council, the House, the Senate, and other Government bodies;
j) To coordinate on other noise and related topics with residents, Government, and Non-Government organizations;
k) To sponsor seminars and other educational events where community and organizational representatives, and other concerned members of the public and government may meet to exchange ideas, suggest solutions, and implement strategies to protect the community from the adverse effects of noise;
l) To meet with governmental representatives, to report to governmental committees, agencies, and boards; and generally to attempt to help local and state lawmakers establish enforceable legislation to protect the public from noise;
m) To expand and redefine our educational and environmental program from time to time as necessary to meet the continuing challenge of protecting the public from the harmful effects of noise in all its forms;
n) To engage in activities necessary or incidental to our main purpose and pursuits as may occur.
